In line with our motto of “more to an eye test”, we conduct thorough eye test to give your eyes more care. To that end our standard eye test includes:
- Testing how far you can see to assessing if your eyes needs spectacles/contact lenses- (Visual Acuity testing to Refraction)
- Testing how well you can see objects in your background to how well your eyes see colour- (Visual Fields testing to Colour Vision testing)
- Checking your blood pressure to your blood sugar levels – (Blood pressure screening to Diabetes screening)
- Assessing how well your eyes work together – (Binocular vision testing to Visual Skills testing)
- Assessing the health of your eyes to assessing the pressure inside your eyes- (Ocular Health Assessment to Intra-ocular Pressure testing)
We also have the capability to provide other services across the full scope of Optometry. These include but not limited to the following:
Low Vision Assessment
Low vision refers to a visual impairment that is not correctable through surgery, spectacles or contact lenses. It is often characterized by partial sight, such as blurred vision, blind spots or tunnel vision, but also includes legal blindness. Low vision can impact people of all ages, but is primarily associated with older adults. A low vision assessment typically includes the determination of the cause of the low vision, the establishment of the type and power of the required low vision optical devices, or low vision correction suitable to attain functional vision. A comprehensive low vision examination is not rushed and is very thorough, taking 2-3 times longer than a regular eye examination. The team at Razorite Optical has the right skills and technology to provide a thorough low vision examination.
Detailed Binocular Vision Assessments
Binocular vision refers to the working together of a person’s two eyes to fixate at the same visual target. Binocular vision impairments often result in partial or total loss of stereoscopic vision and binocular depth perception. Conditions where the eye is obviously turned or crossed are commonly referred to with terms like “cross-eyed”, “crossed-eyes”, wall-eyes” or “wandering eyes”. Although these binocular vision impairments are easily detected some binocular vision impairments are not easily detected by parents, teacher or others because the turning or straying of the eye(s) is NOT obvious or consistent. Razorite Optical has the capacity to detect, diagnose and provide a management plan for most binocular vision conditions.
Contact Lens Examination
Contact lens examination involves the assessment and the understanding of patients lifestyle and preferences. Some contact lenses may be better for athletes with active lifestyles, others may be better for frequent travellers who might need to occasionally sleep in their contacts. It also involves measurements of the curvature of the patient’s cornea (the eye’s clear front surface) the pupil and iris; tear film evaluation to ensure that the prescribed contact lenses are kept sufficiently moist. Razorite Optical has the appropriate technology, skills and knowledge to perform a thorough contact lens examination.
Dilated Fundus Examination
Normally done as an extension of the general eye examination if an eye disease is detected or suspected, this examination involves the dilation of the pupil of the eye using special diagnostic medication and then performing a thorough assessment of the external and internal structures of the eye through a high powered diagnostic lens and specialised equipment. Razorite Optometrists, through its technology and knowledgeable clinical staff, has the capacity to perform this examination where indicated.
